With digital editing software you can fix almost anything. "Cool Edit Pro", now marketed as "Adobe Audition", is a good choice. Suddenly you can cut and paste individual notes - change note pitch, tuning and timing. Punch-ins are obsolete - it's way easier to just fix the track on the computer. The recordings in the Recordings Archive of this site were mixed and mastered using "Cool Edit Pro".
